How to Create a Moment of Calm with Halse
In the whirlwind of daily life, it’s so easy to lose sight of the present. Between endless to-do lists, constant notifications, and the feeling that there’s never enough time, the simple act of pausing can feel impossible. But I’ve learned that true calm isn’t about finding time—it’s about choosing to take it.
When I started Halse, it was with this belief at heart: creating moments of calm is essential. Lighting a candle became my way to reconnect, to slow down, and to breathe deeply. Each Halse candle is a reminder to embrace life, one flicker at a time.
Here’s how I like to use my candles to create a ritual of calm, and I hope these steps inspire you to create your own.

1. Set the Scene
Pick a space that feels like your sanctuary. It could be your favourite corner of the sofa, a cosy reading chair, or even your bedside table. Clear away the clutter, grab a soft blanket, maybe a warm cup of tea, and create an environment that invites you to slow down.
2. Light Your Candle with Intention
Choose a scent that speaks to you in the moment. Perhaps Izar’s fruity brightness to spark some joy or Nova’s soft, powdery calm when you need to unwind. As you light the wick, take a moment to reflect: what do you need right now? Peace? Clarity? Comfort?
3. Breathe Deeply
With the gentle flicker of the candle in front of you, take three deep breaths. Inhale through your nose for four counts, hold for four, and exhale slowly for six. Let the scent envelop you, and feel your shoulders drop as you begin to relax.
4. Engage Your Senses
This is my favourite part—letting the moment completely draw you in. Watch the flame as it dances softly, notice the warmth of the light, and breathe in the layers of fragrance filling the air. This small pause brings me back to the here and now, and it’s something I hope you can feel too.
5. Embrace the Stillness
Whether you spend this time journaling, meditating, or just sitting quietly with your thoughts, let it be yours. Resist the urge to grab your phone or think about what’s next on your list. Let this moment be about you, a time to simply be.
6. Close with Gratitude
Before I blow out my candle, I like to think about one thing I’m grateful for. It could be as simple as a sunny afternoon or the laughter of a loved one. Gratitude has a way of grounding me and reminding me of the beauty in everyday life.
Finding Your Halse Moment
Creating moments of calm isn’t about perfection—it’s about practice. It’s about those small pauses in the day where you can breathe, reflect, and reset. I created Halse to be a part of those moments for you, as it has been for me.
I’d love to hear about how you create calm in your life. Share your #HalseMoment with me on Instagram and let’s inspire each other to embrace the beauty of the present.
